SPA 103rd Conference - Monday 31st January 2022 - Redditch - FULLY BOOKED
We are delighted to be meeting once again at Conference in January 2022! The SPA 103rd Conference is taking place on Monday 31st January 2022 at The Abbey Hotel, Redditch, Worcestershire, B98 9BE. Please BOOK NOW (see link below) to avoid disappointment as SPA Conference numbers are limited and this event does sell out early. You will find the timed Agenda for Conference below - please note this is subject to change.
The agenda will be packed with relevant information ... and we will be opening this Conference up to non-members who are welcome to attend on a "Try Before You Buy" basis.
What better way to open a Conference but with the legend that is Mike Ling MBE FRAeS. Mike achieved his childhood dream when he was selected to join the Red Arrows for the 2008 display season to fly as Red 3 before then being chosen as Red 7 in the prestigious Synchro Pair for 2009. In March 2010, while leading the Synchro Pair as Red 6, Mike survived a head-on mid-air training collision at a closing speed of over 750 mph. A low-level ejection caused major injuries resulting in surgery and months of rehabilitation before Mike could get back in the air. Mike's 10 year stint with the Red Arrows finished with the final Tour of 2018.
Oonagh Kavanagh and Mark Price from Saica Paper will be sharing with delegates their thoughts on the current supply and demand challenges. They will be explaining what Saica Paper do and the important role their Partington operation has in the UK. We understand they also have a special offer for SPA Sheet Plant Members.
Andrew Large, Director General of the Confederation of Paper Industries (CPI) will be discussing his advocacy work on behalf of the Industry, working with BEIS and Government. He will be sharing with us the issues he is working on, describing the process and sharing with us some of his successes...
'Women in Business' Panel Discussion
The session will be moderated by Debbie Woldren-Hoines, Managing Director of Avant-Tout and Co-Founder of Women In Packaging UK. The panel of eminent females from our industry will be answering questions, sharing their experiences and dispensing advice on progression within what appears to be a very male dominated Industry. We are delighted to welcome:
- Ruth Cook, Managing Director, GWP Packaging
- Jennifer Riddell, Managing Director, Boxes & Packaging Scotland
- Oonagh Kavanagh, Commercial Director, Saica
- Gaye Tate, Managing Director Northern Europe, Mosca Direct UK
- MODERATOR - Debbie Waldron-Hoines, Avant-Tout Management Services
We have lined up an expert to come and talk to us about sustainability in transport and specifically the progress of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology. Richard Aucock is Director at Motoring Research, Editor of Auto Retail Agenda, Chairman of Guild of Motoring Writers, Advisor and juror on the World Car Awards and UK juror of AUTOBEST. We will be learning about the technology and the challenges of making it commercially viable and the likely timescales for this technology being available as an option for private and commercial vehicles in the UK.
CorrBoard has transitioned from a new start up to a mature, fully occupied player in the UK Sheet Feeding Market. It’s offering is unique in many ways and this session will take you on the journey and clearly define their principles of Independence, Partnership and Environmental Sustainability. As the UK’s first and only Carbon Neutral manufacturer of corrugated sheet board – delegates will learn how this is achieved and why CorrBoard are the logical choice of supplier for those sheet plants who have the Environment and Sustainability at their core…
