Thinking of growing your business by acquisition ?
This event is for you if you are considering, planning or implementing a strategy to grow your business through acquisition.
This Event is being hosted by the SPA's retained Contract Lawyers - Roxburgh Milkins.
Jason Milkins is a corporate transactional lawyer with a wide range of experience working largely for private companies, typically entrepreneurial businesses. At Roxburgh Milkins, he particularly enjoys advising entrepreneurs on their strategic acquisitions and successful exits. He has handled numerous management buy-outs and buy-ins, share and asset sales and purchases, and corporate restructurings. He's also advised in connection with AIM flotations.
In his own words: "Being part of Roxburgh Milkins - running my own law firm, with partners I like and respect, and doing great work for our clients - has reignited my passion for the profession and the service we offer."
In his spare time: Jason enjoys skiing with his children, horse-riding, and the odd round of golf. He's also another of the firm's many rugby enthusiasts.
Growth by acquisition is a legitimate strategy that warrants Board debate alongside other approaches. The real advantage is the pace at which growth can be achieved. Add to that other almost instant benefits that make that growth sustainable – financing, economies of scale, extended market penetration, catching competitors off guard – and it can look like a very attractive option.
But there are downsides, not the least of which is the small matter of integration – reorganising two workforces and two management teams from businesses that may be culturally very far apart. Work on consolidating an acquisition needs to go on even as the current activity continues. This places considerable stress on individuals, businesses and functions. How do we do it? Do we change everything? Not all the rules fit, how do we change them?
If you are considering this strategy, either now or in the future, our roundtable session will give you a chance to hear about the advantages, but also the pitfalls to avoid. Jason Milkins will be talking about his experience working on strategic acquisitions, exits, buy-ins and buy-outs and you'll hear advice from others in the room through (Chatham House rules) debate and smaller group discussions.
We’re inviting some interesting people and we’d like you to join us. The event is taking place on Thursday 17th October, 8.30AM - 12.30PM, followed by lunch, at The Jessop Suite, Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, Bristol.
