Kolbus Autobox Ltd (Kolbus) was formed in May 2018 when Kolbus UK purchased British Converting Solutions (BCS) as an integral element of the transition for Kolbus into a global equipment supplier in the corrugated sector.
Kolbus will celebrate its 250th anniversary next year and remain based in Rahden in North West Germany, on the same site that the business began as an engineering business in 1775, with engineering quality and total manufacturing integrity from design, casting, machining, assembly and machine testing, all critical elements performed in house. Kolbus was best known as a long-established manufacturer of top quality, high-volume, book binding machinery for well over the last 100 years. In January 2018 it transferred its book production machinery to another global market supplier Muller Martini to enable the required growth into the corrugated market.
Kolbus had already enjoyed success in the luxury rigid box market with its advanced, industry changing production equipment, favoured by global drinks, cosmetic and technology brands, however the last 10 years has seen major steps into the important corrugated arena. Firstly, with the purchase of Hycorr, a North American Rotary Flexo Diecutter manufacturer, with over 200 installations in North America, with machines that proved incredibly robust and became a true work horse in its homeland. During the last decade Kolbus have taken the essential elements of this design, to then further develop and refine the machine, to create the RD 115S with the latest Siemens controls, fully servo controlled units, improved stable cast iron machine frames and built in compatibility with the finest ancillary suppliers. The resulting productivity, along with high quality printing and cutting has ensured the success of this completely new solution from the first installation

Kolbus were keen to continue to advance in the corrugated market and with the purchase of BCS they entered the area of short-medium box making. Specialists with 50 years experience with their range of box making machines including stackers, feeders, gluers and flexo print units, again designed, manufactured, assembled and tested in house.
Kolbus Autobox have recently launched a brand new generation box making solution the BX Motion (BXM) taking the proven technology from the Autobox knowledge and redesigning all aspects to enable the BXM to handle the challenges of todays production market.
The BXM will handle a range of board from E-AAA flute, provide inline high resolution digital print up to 1120mm wide by an unlimited length, multi out production, automated waste management without compromising the quick set philosophy that is synonymous with Kolbus Autobox.
