We return to our favourite venue for the 104th SPA Conference, a Conference which is all about PEOPLE. There will be a lot of ‘new faces’ at Conference and the theme of the event is how to get more out of your people, your processes and your business without breaking the bank.

We kick off Conference with an inspiring keynote speaker.  Colin MacLachlan is a Sunday Times Bestseller, former SAS Leader and a star of Channel 4s hit show, SAS: Who Dares Wins.  Colin will share some of his service experience, as well as his expertise in leadership, teamwork, risk management and more. He specialises in mental resilience and emotional health, two valuable topics of discussion for SPA Conference.  Delegates will come away empowered, armed with a toolbox of skills for overcoming adversity in both professional and personal lives.

SaluteMyJob helps UK companies with ex military recruitment.  SaluteMyJob is a Social Enterprise providing consultancy, recruitment and assessment services to employers that are committed to supporting the Armed Forces and hiring ex-Service men and women.  Dan Shannon's role at SaluteMyJob is to help employers apply best practice, put structured ex-military programmes in place and to overcome barriers to successfully recruit former Service men and women.  Following a successful Army career in the Reconnaissance Platoon, 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment where Dan deployed to multiple countries as part of an 8-man Reconnaissance patrol including Poland, Kenya, Estonia and Cyprus, Dan found his way into recruitment and SaluteMyJob.

As mentioned, this Conference is all about people and we will be focusing on Developing People to Their Full Potential… Neil Osment from NOA Ltd will be leading a session on Coaching and Mentoring and the positive effects it can have on attitude, well-being, ambition and productivity.  He will share some case studies with delegates and offer tips and advice on how to introduce coaching and mentoring into your operation.

Stuart Lotherington from SBR Consulting (retained SPA Sales Experts) will be challenging our preconceived ideas on Motivating Staff. He will be sharing with us some tried and tested techniques for getting our staff revved up and eager to perform whilst throwing in some new ideas which may well work in your business.

Tim Gray, our Chairman will be reminding Delegates of all the Best Practice Initiatives that the SPA offers whilst delegates will be the first to see the latest version of the Board Grade Calculator App which has been overhauled and redeveloped by Alan Millar. He will take us through the new functionality of the App and give pointers on how best to use it.

Following on from the 3rd Health & Safety Forum which precedes Conference, our retained Health & Safety Providers will be focusing our minds on risk and the potential pitfalls of not having a robust Health & Safety system in place. We will also be announcing a major new Initiative which will be of huge benefit to all Sheet Plants and will be fully funded by the SPA.

• Luke Menzies from Menzies Law will be delivering his Employment Law Update with his normal candor and passion.
• Jeff Keyzer from Kene Partners will be educating us on what is changing in the area of R&D Tax Credits and how we can maximise our claims.
• Ian Grimley from Roxburgh Milkins will be discussing changes to the SPA Standard Terms and Conditions of Sale and stressing the importance of them.

Andy Barnetson from CPI will be talking to us about Extended Producer Responsibility and  Plastic Tax, how it will affect us and what your customers need to know.  Andy will also give delegates an update on Beyond the Box promotional, and other CPI, activity.
